Each year on St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the streets of downtown Portland are filled with thousands of runners – all decked out in green. The Shamrock Run Portland is the largest running and walking event in Oregon and is the third largest running event in the western United States! This popular event takes place March 18th at Waterfront Park in downtown Portland.
The Shamrock Run features competitive races at multiple distances:
- Half-marathon (field limited to 3000)
The Shamrock Run event also offers the Shamrock Stride, a 4 mile fitness walk and the Blazers Leprechaun Loop, a 1k walk for children. Children are also welcome to participate in the 5k and the Shamrock Stride. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as a family!
All race courses begin in Waterfront Park and run through downtown Portland, providing a unique race experience. The 15k and Half-marathon feature the slightly intimidating Terwilliger Hills. The new Shamrock Stride includes river and city views, as well as trips across Tilikum Crossing and the steel bridge.
Cross the finish line and enjoy live music, hot soup, and the Widmer Brothers Brewing beer garden!
Registration is open and available. If you are interested in running, sign up now – and plan to pick up your bib and racing information at the Shamrock Fitness Fair. (Info below!)
